Student’s Guide

English for Tourism Electronic Module has been designed to improve users (students) proficiency in English for tourism. It is based on hypermedia which complemented by video and audio and English lesson exercises  link that you can access anywhere and any time you want. This electronic module can be supplementary  English for tourism materials  that can be accessed through both  personal computer or android gadget. It  focuses on four skills of languages; listening, speaking, reading and writing. In addition, it also discusses some important language usage or expression and grammar topics and also vocabularies which frequently used in the tourism communication activities. Therefore you have to pay attention how to use the  English for tourism electronic module on line class or in the class to achieve effective, efficient and enjoyable English learning process.

Listening Activities
Listening activities consists of dialogues or conversation that delivered by native or local teachers. Some of you get difficulties in listening native speakers because of its speed, pronunciation, accent, and intonation. To prevent some problems in listening activities, it is suggested that you have to have a good sound system in your android gadget. If you use personal computer or laptop, make sure it has  a good active speaker  and a good internet connection. 

The video and audio files has been adapted and can be accessed through YouTube and downloaded. You can  choose and play the video and audio file that correspond to listening activities and have more practices.  

Speaking Activities
Speaking activities provides some video and audio conversations followed by the conversation text. Both could be considered as a model English for tourism communication which can be copied their pronunciation and accents. As a result you will have some experiences to practice the dialogues in the unit and may scaffold them with your own languages. It is suggested that you follow the video conversation  model to initiate your understanding in practicing your own dialogues in the form of a role play, pair work or group work speaking activities with your partners.  

Reading Activities
Reading activities consist of  tourism texts such as brochures, maps, news, letter,   announcement, and catalogues of tourism products. Reading activities in this module encourage you to improve your comprehension in reading dealing with tourism texts. You may start the reading activities by checking your vocabularies enrichments then followed by understanding main idea. It would be much more interesting reading activities if you use some reading techniques for example scanning, skimming, reading speed, jig show  reading, reading comprehension quizzes and reading aloud as suggested by your teacher. It would be better if you have some further reading comprehension activities by exploring links which suggested in the module.

Writing Activities
Writing activities give you some writing practices and activities dealing with tourism  activities. You may start with understanding how to make simple sentences such as how to make personal massages, email and report. Next the comprehension of the sentence structures for examples complete massages, email or reports will make students easy to have writing activities. Finally, you have to practice writing an email, brochure, notice and short description of tourism destination that  might be sent to the your teacher or friends as further writing activities.

Language Usage
Language usage could be considered as important activities in this English for tourism electronic module which discuss about useful expression and grammar usage. Understanding communication expression and grammar usage that frequently used in tourism  conversation activity is needed. Expressing some conversation ideas with  correct language usage and grammar will minimize misunderstanding in tourism communication activities. You do not need to know very detail about the grammar that would make you confuse. It is suggested to use communicative grammar that will be more useful compare to detail about grammar. You are also suggested to explore grammar exercises links in the module.

Vocabularies
Vocabularies enrichment is very important activities that you will get new vocabularies which commonly used in tourism conversation. You may start to learn vocabularies by having a vocabularies quizzes or games.  If you get difficulties about new vocabularies, you are suggested  to have to guessing the meaning first rather then open dictionaries. If you still have difficulties, you may use online dictionaries or google translate.

Exercises 
Exercises materials are optional activities that  you can  use in the classroom or outside classroom. You are suggested to use them to have more English for tourism practices. You can do the exercises based on topic or activity in the module. You can  download and print the materials or just do the exercises on line to have more effective result of learning activities.

Pre Test and Post Test
The objective of pre test is to know your proficiency or competences in English for tourism. The score of the pre test  can be considered as your starting point in learning this module. Post Test has objective to know your  proficiency or competences achievement in English for tourism after learning the electronic module. You  may know your achievement in learning this module by comparing the score result of pre and post test (your gain score).

TOEIC TEST
TOEIC or Test of English for International Communication is to measure your  English proficiency in the workplace. Your are recommend  to do the TOEIC test exercises and free diagnosis online TOEIC test to know how well your score in the test. The more your practice and explore TOEIC exercises link the better score you will have.
