Exercise

It’s usually a great idea to travel with a good map so you don’t get lost. The Great Pyramids of Egypt and the Eiffel Tower in Paris are very famous landmarks. I always buy lots of souvenirs when I travel because I like to remember the places I’ve traveled to. What time does our flight leave, or depart? When will you get there, or arrive? Where can I buy a train ticket? Last month, when I was in Vienna, I sent my grandmother a postcard of the city. Our flight leaves from Gate 43, but I don’t know where Gate 43 is. Let’s ask at the information desk. My family and I are flying to Taiwan tomorrow, so we need to go to the international airport. Millions of tourists visit the Great Wall of China every year. The way my face looks changes as I get older, so I need to get a new passport every ten years. Don’t forget to bring everything you need in your luggage. We’ll be traveling for two weeks. Should we travel with a tour group and take our cameras when we sightsee around the country? Did you enjoy your trip to Dubai? After we arrive in Berlin, we’ll check in at a nice hotel and get some rest.

Writing practice 2

Some people think it’s a good idea to travel on holiday but other people think it’s (1) better to stay at home. I (2) believe that it’s better to travel on holiday. In this (3) paragraph I will give you three excellent reasons for my (4) opinion. First of all, you can’t learn many things when you just stay at home. For (5) example, last year I (6) flew to Iceland on holiday and I learned many things about Icelandic culture. Secondly, you might not make many new (7) friends if you stay at home all the time. (8) However, you will probably meet lots of new people when you travel. Last year, for example, I (9) made three new friends while I was in Iceland. (10) Finally, when you stay at home on holiday, you will probably feel very (11) bored . It’s just not fun! On the other hand, travel is exciting! You never know what you will see or who you will meet! For all these (12) reasons, I think it’s better to travel on holiday. What do you think?

Modul-2: At Immigration Officer

M2: Listening

Listening 1

Immigration wasn’t really a problem a long time ago. Many countries welcomed immigrants because they needed workers. The USA, Australia and Canada encouraged millions of people to come and live in their countries.

Today, however, immigration is becoming a problem. Many countries are trying to control immigration. At election time, it is a major issue.

Immigration today is big business. More and more people from poor countries want to live in rich countries. It is easier to travel nowadays because of cheap transport and more open borders.

People risk their lives to get the chance of starting a new life in a rich country. This can cause anger in the countries immigrants go to. It is an issue that will be with us forever, I think.

Tanjung Benoa is a beach town. It is located at the elite area in Nusa Dua Bali. There it is situated with the view of the sea in Bali. On the north side, there are Benoa Harbour, Mertasari Recreation Park, and Serangan Island. The foreigners call it the turtle island, because it is used to breed the turtles.

At Tanjung Benoa Beach, tourists can have various activities, such as swimming, sailing, waterskiing, and surfing. Surfing is a water sport of riding waves that are coming towards the shore by standing or lying on a special board called a surfboard. It is a very enjoyable and an impressive sport. Most surfing lovers call it the most challenging water sport, as it needs skill, strength, as well as bravery. The others think that it is a very dangerous sport, as it fights against the dangerous waves of the sea.
